NEW Portage Road Community Garden

Through community consultation, we learned that all existing community gardens are at capacity, and land costs in our area have become out of reach for many to individually secure land to grow food on. Pemberton’s community representative organizations have been hearing again and again that our community needs and desires access to land to grow food.

In partnership with the Village of Pemberton, we developed the Pemberton Agricultural Parks Master Plan to guide the creation of agricultural parkland in Pemberton and Area C. This plan was written in response to our community’s needs for access to land to grow food.

The new Portage Road Community Garden is located at the Pemberton Multimodal Transport Hub. The garden currently hosts 46 large plots (8’x18’), with 10 accessible plots and 5 learning plots for first time gardeners planned for construction in Spring 2026.

There are also plans for a community herb and flower garden and a second Grow-It-Forward garden to grow food for the Pemberton Food Bank and other Sea to Sky Community Services programs.

The garden will also have a greenhouse and outdoor learning space to host community workshops and events.
