FEASTING FOR CHANGE PROGRAM

Our Feasting for Change Program started as the Pemberton Crabapple Tree Project to help reduce human-bear conflict and address food insecurity. Since then, the program has grown to address wider food security initiatives and support land access for local food production.

Today, we run six food security and community agriculture projects under the Feasting For Change Program umbrella - read more about them below!

FARM FOOD RESCUE PROJECT

The Farm Food Rescue Project rescues unsold produce from local, organic farms, that would otherwise go to waste, and brings it to the Pemberton Food Bank -- bridging a gap in our local food system.

FRUIT TREE PROJECT

The Fruit Tree Project coordinates volunteers to harvest fruit trees and vegetable crops that would otherwise go unpicked. This harvest rescues food from going to waste, provides produce for the Pemberton Food Bank, and reduces human-wildlife conflict.

GROW-IT-FORWARD GARDEN

The Grow-It-Forward Garden grows food directly for the Pemberton Food Bank, and is a hub for community workshops, events, and volunteer opportunities.

PEMBERTON SECONDARY SCHOOL GARDEN

At the Pemberton Secondary School Garden, students are involved in all steps of the growing process - from planting seeds to harvesting, to learning about local food systems! All produce goes directly to school food programs and school families.

SEED LIBRARY

The Seed Library provides free, locally saved seeds to our community, and hosts educational workshops and events about seed saving and seed security.

MAKE SOIL NOT WASTE WORKSHOPS

We partner with the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District to host “Make Soil Not Waste” workshops and events to educate about compost and food waste, and celebrate ways to better use our food.
