Lillooet-River Watershed Model

This large outdoor permanent watershed model at the One Mile Lake Nature Centre, made of foam board on a computer numeric machine is the only model of it’s kind that we know of in British Columbia. The model will help demonstrate ecological processes of the water cycle. For example, users will be able to learn the importance of maintaining native vegetation, create an understanding how pollution travels through the watershed and how daily activities, such as driving a car, have the potential to impact the environment and demonstrate ways to mitigate these effects. The model will ground people in place and help to celebrate the vast and diverse watershed in which we live.

Made possible through funding from the Pacific Salmon Foundation, Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, Pemberton Music Festival, Province of British Columbia, the Squamish Lillooet Regional District, Department of Oceans & Fisheries, and generous in-kind technical contribution from GHGCNC.
