Join us to learn, connect, and celebrate the beginning of the growing season at this free community event!
Swap seeds and stories with local growers, meet regional food security organizations, support local garden and food vendors, and "ask an expert" your gardening and seed saving questions. There will be free activities for all ages, snacks, warm drinks (please bring a mug), live music, and more!
This year, we’ll have even more seeds to share from our seed library and seed swap thanks to donations from local seed producers West Coast Seeds, Salt Spring Seeds, Seeds of Diversity, Sunshine Farms Seeds, Rainbow Seeds, and Sweet Rock Farm Seeds.
Coast Mountain Cannabis will be offering free potting mix (bring-your-own container!), and the Pemberton Farmers Institute will be sharing used row-cover, landscape fabric, and seed starting trays.
We’re excited to offer a fun activity for kids - or anyone interested - to build seed starting trays out of recycled materials, that they can plant out with seeds from the seed library!
We will also have outreach tables from the SLRD’s Make Soil Not Waste initiative, the Pemberton Library, FarmFolk CityFolk, BC Eco-Seed Co-operative, and Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council. Local farms Two Sisters Farms and HappiLife Farm will be selling home-grown dried flowers and flower tubers.
To keep you warm, we’ll have a free hot cocoa and tea stand at the Stewardship Pemberton Society table (bring a mug!). Local bakers Blissful Bites and the British Baker will be selling snacks and treats as well.
We want to acknowledge that this event will be hosted on the traditional and unceded lands of the Lilwat Nation. When celebrating growing food and engaging in age-old practices like seed saving, it is important to reflect on and uplift the original stewards of this land.
